Iori is a friendly and smiley two year old boy. He has good time at preschool everyday thanks to quite supportive teachers and kind friends (I am a working mother). He loves picture books, swings, tricycles and sliders. He looks into a face of crying baby anxiously. He asks his teacher to give him food when he still hasn’t had enough at lunch…He is assertive and full of curiosity. He knows what he should do! And actually, he does it well.
The hospital is necessarily like another home because we have spent much time at many appointments to specialists, examinations and hospitalizations. He knows well where the playroom and cafeteria are, and which doctor or nurse is kind and plays with him. At a visit to the appointment, he is busy walking around the hospital and visiting his favorite places (I am busy running after him!). Any hospital staff that passes by him says, not “Nice to meet you”, but “We meet again!”
Lots of worries certainly hang on my mind at any time and sometimes there are days I am drowned in tears. But his happy smiles are always with me which give me courage and strength for tomorrow. I get energy from his hugs showing his joy and happiness. I believe he has great potential to carve out the unique future and to lead his own life.
