Benedetta Carbone joined the IWSA volunteer team in June 2016. Benedetta is Italian, but has been living in Edinburgh, UK for the past 5 years. After getting her degree in Molecular Genetics, she started a PhD in Biology and Regenerative Medicine. Her younger sister Cecilia, who has WAGR syndrome, and their parents live in Pisa, Italy. Benedetta is passionate about science and science communication. She also enjoys arts and crafts, from making jewelry to drawing, and she reads a lot of novels. Joining IWSA she hopes to contribute to the growth of the community, to support the families involved and to raise awareness of rare disorders and of the challenges that children and families might encounter.
