Shari McCullen Krantz has served the IWSA in leadership positions since 2000, most recently as Board Chair and Co-Chair of the IWSA Board of Directors. The Krantz/Marshall family served as WAGR Weekend hosts in Gaithersburg, Maryland in 2009, 2010, and 2012. Shari and daughter Amy Marshall enjoyed visiting with and supporting WAGR families during the National Institutes of Health’s WAGR syndrome studies in Bethesda, Maryland. Shari’s daughter, Amy, was diagnosed at age 11 with WAGR syndrome and died in 2015 following complications after surgery for Wilms tumor at the age of 19. Shari’s professional experience in corporate and small business ownership roles has included communications, management and oversight responsibilities. As the first Executive Director of the International WAGR Syndrome Association, Shari is tasked with guiding the IWSA through its transition from a nonprofit relying only on volunteers to a professionally-based organization involved in a broad range of research and patient advocacy activities. Shari and her family–two grown sons and five grandchildren—live in Maryland.
