The definition of perseverance is the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure or opposition. This describes our son Nicholas to a T. He has faced a number of challenges over the years, (cancer, legal blindness, cognitive delays, behavior issues and more) yet he hasn’t let any of these challenges hold him down. Nicholas loves life and lives life to the fullest. He participates in a number of activities which include: Special Olympics Soccer (goalie), Poly hockey (floor hockey), basketball, bowling, track and field and cycling. He started therapeutic horseback riding lessons when he was eight and is a natural on a horse. He has won several ribbons riding in our local summer county fair over the years. He even taught himself how to ride a two-wheeled bike. He plays baseball and attends a local day camp every summer. Nicholas currently attends a job skills center and is in the building trades class. We have learned so much from Nicholas’ strong will and determination and are definitely better parents because of him. Nicholas is definitely our hero and the wind beneath our wings. We are blessed to have him in our lives and blessed to have had the support of our extended WAGR family over the years.
