Promising Aniridia Research Results: Patient-friendly summaries available
Exciting research was presented at the 2021 Aniridia North America Symposium: PAX6, Aniridia, and Beyond. Nearly 100 researchers, clinicians, and patient organization representatives from around the world convened virtually and in person in Charlottesville, Virginia to share current research projects and findings.
Among the topics covered:
The Aniridic Cornea
Glaucoma
Genetics and Aniridia
Eye Development
Research models and techniques
"IWSA supports the mission of the ANA because this collaboration will facilitate research focused specifically on Aniridia in WAGR syndrome," explains Kelly Trout, BSN, RN, Director of Research and Medical Advocacy. "This collaboration has already produced important new information about the severity of Aniridia in WAGR syndrome, and additional research is now being developed."
Representatives of IWSA and other patient organizations presented information about the importance of collaboration between scientists, clinicians, and patient groups. These representatives also prepared patient-friendly summaries of all the topics discussed at the Symposium. These summaries will help IWSA families learn more about current Aniridia research and how it will lead to better diagnosis and treatment.
