Every WAGR Weekend is special and this year our US event was no exception! WAGR Weekend US 2019 was hosted by Emily and Adam Mott in Brigham City, Utah.
We started the weekend with a barbecue dinner Friday evening, followed by Mom’s Night Out while the Dads and kids enjoyed the hotel pool and visiting with each other.
Saturday was our Family Meeting, which included presentations about the IWSA and the impact of fundraising and volunteering, an update on research on WAGR syndrome, and coping with behavioral challenges. Discussions and Q&A time were followed by lunch and a carnival in the nearby park. Older “kids” enjoyed games and bowling while the younger kids were entertained by a group of caring volunteers. The day ended with a dinner gathering and Dad’s Night Out (skeet shooting at the local club!) while Moms and the kids enjoyed the pool and visiting.
The big prize for the 50/50 drawing was won by Brittany Volk (sister to Ashley of California). Brittany took home $257 and the IWSA received the same. We also held a silent auction for two beautiful quilts, one made by mom Leslie Volk, and the other donated by Miranda’s Mission.
Many thanks from all of us to the Motts, their wonderful families, and their whole group of volunteers, and THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, fundraised, sponsored, or volunteered for the IWSA.
